Therapy with me
Has it been a long time since you’ve genuinely smiled or laughed? Since you’ve had a moment to rest and feel accomplished? When was the last time you truly felt joy? Do you feel like things just “happen to you,” or that you have no power over your life’s direction?
When you’re juggling the challenges of life and relationships, it can be hard to remember yourself as an important part of the picture. When managing all that, plus a mental health concern, like depression or anxiety, you may often feel very overwhelmed, or even numb. In this state, it is very difficult to make decisions and build positive relationships.
We are living in extremely challenging times, and it’s only natural to need support. Therapy can help you to feel better, more in control, and more alive. By reflecting on your truths, your pain, and your accomplishments, you will begin to appreciate and validate yourself more often. In the midst of chaos and upheaval, therapy is truly a practice of learning to cultivate joy and resilience. I am here to support you, so you can slow down, and truly see yourself, accept yourself and begin to feel more in control. Together, at your pace, we will reorient towards balance and self awareness, which lead to a deeper sense of choice and empowerment.
Through individual therapy or group support, we can build connections and weave through your story, using the threads as learning opportunities, and leaving behind what no longer serves you. Letting go of old stories is like dropping a heavy weight from your shoulders. Changing your own perspective will help you to build relationships based on your truth. Deeper understanding of yourself can be woven, like golden threads, into your mind and heart, to carry onward through life.

About Jennifer
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who has been providing psychotherapy for 8 years. I graduated from California Institute of Integral Studies, with a Masters in Counseling Psychology, and a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy. I completed a certificate and an internship, in Person-Centered Expressive Arts, through PCEATI, founded by Natalie Rogers.
I have worked with children and families, individual adults, couples and groups. I find joy in working with others to support them in accepting where they are and growing from that point of radical acceptance. I believe that wherever we find ourselves in life, we can learn from our situations and use that new knowledge to move forward towards being more authentic and integrated. |
I value using a Person-Centered, Humanistic approach, and also use Psychoanalytic theories and relational interventions at times. I have expertise with using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other short term therapy approaches, as well as with using the Expressive Arts. I am passionate about helping adults recommit to their purpose and feel connected to their identities; supporting those affected by loss of loved ones; and supporting parents in building trust in their relationships with their children.
I am committed to building equity in the therapy relationship, and openly discuss matters of privilege and the dynamics of systemic racism and heterosexism with clients who are willing to examine this. I have lived experience of being LGBTI and have experience working with LGBTI individuals. I speak fluent Spanish and have extensive experience working with Latino/a/x communities and the African American/Black community in California. Please feel free to inquire if you have any questions.

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner. I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”
